Henry Scores Top-5 at Waynesfield After Part Failure at I-96; Tripleheader for Labor Day Weekend

Henry Scores Top-5 at Waynesfield After Part Failure at I-96; Tripleheader for Labor Day Weekend

FREMONT, Ohio (August 28, 2025) - There's no iconic moment in sports that doesn't have some variety of adversity tied into the storyline. Tiger Woods' "Return to Glory" at the 2019 Masters, the Boston Red Sex coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the 2004 ALCS, or even Kalib Henry's own story when he picked up the victory at Hartford Motor just weeks after being life-flighted from the racetrack.

Henry, who pilots the Running Boxers Farm, Valvoline, C&H Veteran Enteprises, West River Trailer Sales and Service, Butlerbuilt Seats, Birchard Financial, Triple J Towing, Pub 400, No. 101 sprint car, ran into adversity Friday night at the I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan.

After starting 13th in the All-Star Circuit of Champions feature event, Henry used the longer green flag runs to race his way into the top-5 and was challenging Nate Dussel for fourth before a driveline failure brought the No. 101 car to a stop. Henry would officially score a 20th place finish; marking just his fifth finish outside the top-10 in 19 starts this year with the All-Stars.

"Tough," a heartbroken Henry mentioned, "we had a fast car. I mean, a really fast car and to not have the result to show for it sucks." Despite the setback, Henry remained optimistic for the rest of the season. "We have been firing on all cylinders coming into the final stretch of the season which is exactly what you need to be doing. We had a tough pill draw tonight for qualifying which set us back to start but Andy (Potter) set the car up to drive forward and we did that. You can't control a part failure like that, they just happen."

The team quickly left I-96 to return back to the Fremont, Ohio based shop to prepare for Waynesfield Raceway Park the following night. Working late into the night and then again early in the morning, the team was able to successfully get everything turned around.

Struggling to work out some issues, Henry qualified in at 18th quick among the 21 entries. Advancing two positions in Adaptive One Heat Three, Henry finished fourth which set the team up for a 14th place starting spot in the NAPA Auto Parts Feature, which turned out to be a replay from the night prior. This time however, the result went Henry's way.

Driving through the field once more, Henry found himself in the top-5 in the late stages of the event. "I don't think I've ever raced so hard in my life to just get in the top-5," Henry noted. Henry was able to get around fellow championship contender Zane DeVault on lap 31 to take fourth. On lap 33, Henry challenged Nate Dussel for third but was unable to complete the pass. When the checkered fell, Henry crossed the line in fourth with Parker Price-Miller finishing first followed by additional championship contender Devon Borden and then Nate Dussel.

Henry was quick to note the importance of being able to rebound quickly. "We needed that. It's easy to let one misstep cascade into a series of them, but we were able to put last night behind us and come out here and get a fourth-place finish." While there's still plenty of racing left in the 2025 season, the I-96/Waynesfield weekend will be one that plays a pivotal role in the All-Star championship hunt.

With just seven races remaining in the 2025 All-Star season, Henry's point lead stands at 44 points over Devon Borden. 22 points separates the Racers for Life No. 101 and the second place Rudzik Racing No. 49 in owner points.

Following the All-Star schedule, a doubleheader for the Attica Ambush will start the holiday weekend off on Friday and Saturday. Wayne County will serve as the finale for the Labor Day tripleheader on Sunday night.
